Easton Gilbertson competed in the Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Northwest Service Cooperative in Thief River Falls on Wednesday, February 7. The day began with a written round in which 32 area students spelled 50 words, including “vehemence” and “jute.” Having placed in the top 12, Easton advanced to the oral rounds. After 26 rounds of spelling words such as “congeniality,” “pendulous,” and “fashionista,” he finished in 2nd place, just missing a chance to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Congratulations, Easton, on your achievements earned through hard work and dedication!

National School Counselor Week is a special time to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and dedication of school counselors across the country. During this week, we honor the important role that school counselors play in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional well-being.
Counselor Hanson is our outstanding school counselor who goes above and beyond to make a positive impact on the lives of students. She creates a safe space for students to express themselves and seek guidance and is truly an invaluable asset to the school community. We are grateful for her dedication and commitment to helping students.

Nutritional Choices Available For Lunch
Take a look at all of the beautiful, healthy meal options
available to our students everyday for school lunch!
Our food line consists of a main dish, and side options such as mashed potatoes, baked beans, fries, steamed vegetables, fresh and canned fruits, sherbet, and krispie bars. When students move along to the fresh salad bar, they are able to select from even more fruits and fresh vegetables. And.....the fruits and vegetables are unlimited, so students are able to return for more!
There are governmental guidelines dictating the amounts of certain nutritional elements (or "components") that students can be offered. Among these components are sodium levels, fat content, sugar levels, amount of proteins, etc. However, having the ability to "load up" on fruits and vegetables should keep your student satisfied for the afternoon.

Magelssen Elementary sixth graders had a special guest during their STEM class on January 4th. Jacob Gutterud (FHS Class of 2022) gave a presentation on aviation and shared a little about his journey in becoming a licensed commercial pilot through his studies at the University of North Dakota.

The Magelssen Student Leaders brought in new family games, wrapped them together and delivered them to The Loaves & Fishes Food Shelf today.
