High School and Elementary Paraprofessionals
Fosston Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for paraprofessional positions to assist students with special needs in the classroom and ensure their safety. Assist with collecting and monitoring of student progress data. Beneficial if candidates possess computer tech-related skills. Other duties may also include lunch and recess supervision as well as supervision on school vehicle rides when necessary. There are openings at all levels: early childhood, elementary and high school. A qualified paraprofessional must have a high school diploma or GED. A highly qualified paraprofessional must meet requirements in ONE of the following areas or the willingness/ability to obtain ONE area in the future: A) Additional postsecondary training; minimum of 60 semester credits from an institute of higher education. Or B) Hold an Associates’ degree or higher; Or C) Achieve a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment. The district is willing to help new hires obtain their paraprofessional certification. Or D) Validation via Portfolio: Demonstrating core competencies through transferable work experience, workshops/conferences, college courses, online training through MN Para eLink or similar curriculum endorsed by the Minnesota Paraprofessional Consortium. The district is willing to help new hires obtain their paraprofessional certification. Candidates with four-year degrees are encouraged to apply. The district is willing to help new hires with a Bachelors’ degree obtain a substitute teacher license. Literacy Tutor & Math Tutor Minnesota Reading Corps
Would you love to help children grow their reading skills, math skills, succeed in school and get extra support? If the answer is yes, you can be trained to serve as a tutor with Minnesota Reading Corps and Math Tutor at Magelssen Elementary School, Fosston. Whether you want to explore an educational career, reenter the workforce, or give back to your community, you can succeed as a tutor. Last year, Minnesota Reading Corps provided the direct services to over 30,000 children in more than 700 schools across the state.
As a Literacy Tutor, you will use strategies that help students believe in themselves and succeed. Positions available include: One Full Time Elementary (K-3) Literacy Tutor and Math Tutor. Tutor typically serve most of their hours during the regular school day.
In addition to extensive training, tutors will receive on-site support from the specially trained school mentors. Tutors come from many backgrounds and include recent high school and college grads, career changers, stay-at-home parents, and retirees.
